State of the Tank: (cont.)
February 2006: (cont.)

But I don't think anyone believed me. After all, I had a 500g tank. How could THAT ever get full? So I took one more frag and called it a day.

For the record, it was 19F with a wind-chill factor of around 0 by the time we left that night. Not having a cooler, I thought just carrying the bags to the car would kill everything that was in them. But even that and the fact that, once home a few HOURS later, I simply floated them in their bags for the rest of the night due to my own exhaustion, they still seem to be doing fine!

Man, I'm telling ya, you can't beat that tank-raised stuff. Even if the tank is as big as a single wide trailer!

So that's how I wound up with two more frags. They were gifts and gifts don't count in the 'no more frags' policy. Anyhow, I'll show you pictures next month (this update) because I held them in my frag tank/refugium for the rest of this one, just to help them settle down.

Oh, and finally, the next day Greg, Tony, and Herman all came by and visited my tank for a while. I was truly honored and look forward to getting down to their neck of the woods one day soon. I can even stop by the new Georgia Aquarium along the way. I hear THAT one's over 160,000g!!!

Anyway, as promised, here is the link to Atlantis Marine Worlds' website. If you get the chance, you've really got to see it. atlantismarineworld.com

March 2006:
Well, while it may look like there have been no changes since the last full tank shot (Jan '06), closer inspection will reveal the fact that there several more fish in it now. See all the little Bartletts in the Purple Stag (Acro #41), top right? How about the Regal Angel in the extreme lower right corner? You know what you can't see though? This guy ! My new tiny Flame Hawk. It's about an inch long, by far the smallest I've ever seen.

Now, I've always thought mated pairs of fish were cool and while I've seen pairs of Flame Hawks for sale occasionally, I was well aware that this species would fight rather viciously if they didn't come in together. I mean, you just can't make a real pair of Flame Hawks like some piscine dating service. The odds of success are as tiny as...well, an actual HUMAN dating service. And I wasn't about to introduce an already mated pair of Flames, as, even in a tank as large as mine, my longtime single (and website mascot) would've eventually been toast.
