State of the Tank: (cont.)

through them pretty quickly and because my wife has this paranoia about putting clothes in a washing machine that has EVER had a dirty filter sock in it, we’ve been relegated to washing them by hand.  This is a long tedious process and one of the reasons I’ve never liked them.  So leave it to me to get a new sump built that not only still uses them, but instead of using just one, this baby uses FOUR!

Images of Ray and myself huddled around the sink with rags on our heads singing Negro spirituals every washday began to run through my mind  (Ray is not Black btw, but trust me, the thought of him doing this is really, really funny).  So now what do we do?  Well, after all this time, a friend came up with the all-too-simple solution:  Just get a dedicated small apartment type washer that can be hooked up to the sink when we need it and put away when we don’t!  So this is exactly what we did and viola!  This thing works great!  Now, with a bit of bleach, and after good rinse cycle (with dechlorinator…not necessary I’m told but what the heck), plus a couple days to air dry, the socks now look even better than they did during our days (years, actually) of hand washing! Plus, our hands can now maintain their youthful and velvety smoothness.  My only question to you guys is, why didn’t YOU ever tell me about this thing?  I thought this was a two-way relationship.  [PLEASE STOP---WEBGUY] Okay, fine.

So that’ll about wrap things up for the month.  I do apologize for not having much in the way of new images lately but I did add a LOT new things to the Growth Shots series.  Some are the latest looks at existing pieces but many are brand new so please check them out when you have a chance. There are also three new shots in the Photography section also including an amazing portrait shot of my Copperband.

See you next month for, hopefully, details on the Great Sump Swap.  With lots of photo essay shots too.

Again, have a happy summer.

July 2005
This month’s update comes to you from the sleepy little hamlet of Encino, California.  Encino has always had very close ties to the Hollywood community because many of the agents, lawyers and psychotherapists of the country’s most famous celebrities live here.  This leads me to believe encino must be the Spanish word for sponge…as further evidenced by the fact that it is also home to Patchy The Pirate of The You-Guessed-It-bob Squarepants Show. The reason I’m here though is to accompany my wife and daughter on their semi-annual Friends
