"Reputedly,
this is one tough little fella. They say it's sweepers
(and it DOES have sweepers) are some of the most potent
around. So I thought I put it off to itself where it
couldn't do any real harm to it's tankmates. Actually,
I put it right in front of a colony of Ricordea and
THEY, in turn, began to sting IT a bit. Bye bye, Ricordea.
Obviously, I have not yet identified the exact species
here. Whatever it is, it seems to swell up greatly
when undisturbed and under the lights but will contact
just as greatly when under stress (like when a patch
of Ricordea is trying to sting it to death) so, up
until then, this piece was a pretty good indicator
of my water quality. Now, until it's healed, I'll have
to go back to my test kits. Otherwise, I've had no
problems with it; it hasn't tried to reach out and
'touch' someone. But then again, my piece just might
be the 'sissy' species of the Genus." |
