| This is the parent colony of the Montipora sp. frag
in the Montipora sub category (left). It was truly fascinating to
watch this coral grow. The tallest it ever got was less than 6"
but it's base was a good foot across and it was literally encrusting
everything in it's path. Also, notice in the overhead shot that it
actually developed a little shelf. The way I figured it, any coral
that would 'intentionally' shade itself certainly wouldn't give a
damn about anything else in the tank, so I let it go. Well, most of
