"This M. capricornis was
quite understandably the 'showpiece' of the tankcfor a time. By the time
we parted company, it was perhaps a foot and a half and and TWO FEET across!
I'd originally acquired it for a local reefer whose tank it had already
outgrown. In the eighteen months I had it, it
probably grew another 50%. It soon became so large that it not only shaded
the corals below it, it blocked a lot of the water movement around itself.
This, in turn, caused a localized cyanobacterial bloom that was unsightly
and brought about great concern for several of the other corals." |
