Well, if you're a reef board regular, especially if that board is Reef Central, then these frags need no introduction. If you're not, or aren't familiar with them, these are two examples of the much coveted Purple Tortuosa; 'tort' for short. Both came from the well-known propagation house, ORA, though #066 was acquired through an LFS   while #067 came MO from Rob at Coralsandbar. The provenance of this coral is as detailed and varied as the family trees of some May flower descendants so I'm absolutely not going to get into it here.If you're interested in knowing from whence this species came, I'd suggest doing a search on RC. Just enter 'purpletort', and cancel all your plans for the rest of the month.
I prefer not to involve myself in all the mania. I just like'em because they're purty.
Because of their popularity, they are rather difficult to come by without having to sit on a waiting list, which is what I did But just in case one failed, I decided to get two of them. I placed them far apart in the tank but put them up high and in plenty of flow. So far they're doing well, especially #066 which has already 'thickened up' and shown a bit of growth. Both already exhibit the deep purple color for which they're best known and have already become the favorites of a few local reefkeeppers.

Lost 8/05 due (we think) to phosphate poisoning
