worst is really behind us…so much so that while in CA in early August, I ordered a couple of unusual acros from both Dr. Mac and Reefer Madness (Walt Smith) with complete confidence that they would be okay. See the 'SPS' section for details. Unfortunately, my Pectinia and my cool barnacle filled Montipora could not recover and had to be removed. As for the Heliopora, I've got faith that it'll make it. Its sores are already showing signs of healing.
So what have I learned from all this? Well for one, subscribe to Maxim. I'll get it earlier and I won't read so many artificial salt studies. There's also something about bandwagons that would probably apply here so I'll just say right now that my 'jumping' days are over…no matter what respected expert is driving one.
The plan from this point was to let the tank 'chill' for a few weeks. It needed quite a bit of redecorating but we figured it had gone through enough stress for a while. Then during the 2nd week of Sept., we added about 50 lbs of new live rock and once again rearranged some of the corals. Everything was finally completed on Sept 19. About the only thing the tank did NOT have to go through, thank goodness, was the devastating blackout last August. We had just installed a monster whole house generator last spring and the thing came through like a champ. It took us through the

entire 9-hour power outage and barely tapped it's propane supply. I can recall being teased for 'overkill' by some people when I installed it but even THEY'D have to admit that it probably came close to paying for itself that day. The ambient temperature was about 90.

No changes. I am considering switching bulbs 2&5 to 400W Radiums however in hopes of 'coloring up' a few of the acros. If and when this happens, there should be time to give you a full report with results by the next Update.

I have also removed my eggcrate due to the demise of yet another one of my fish who jumped through it. Details in the Fish Section.
