State of the Tank: (cont.)
March 2006: (cont.)

But wait! There's more! While I am almost finished with my fish stocking wish list, there is one more species I plan to include in the tank. And they too are Anthias: Bimaculatus Anthias. I put the word out about a month before I left that I was looking to assemble a small shoal and, of course, nobody had any. A few days before departure however, my LFS got in one female so I took her and put her in the refugium the day after I transferred the Regal. Now, if you're a regular reader of this site, I don't have to tell you what happened next: Once I DID leave, Bimacs started coming in from all over the place and at exactly the same time, just like I knew they would. So to keep all my people happy and not look like a total flake, I took a couple from here and a couple from there and even a few from mail order (Live Aquaria) giving me a grand total of one male and seven females. This is about what I wanted in the first place so, with the exception of having to put them together like Charlie's Angels, everything worked out well. Of course, there IS the fact that, save the original female, I haven't seen ANY of them yet. But Ray says they're nice so I'm afraid that'll have to do for all of us right now. Next month I hope to have some pictures.

So maybe with the exception of adding a few more Olive Anthias, if I can find them (I'm down to the male and one female), I think my fish population is complete.

I can already see the Olives are going to be tough because they're not coming in even when I'm gone! But when I find them, that'll be about it. I can already see the Olives are going to be tough because they're not coming in even when I'm gone! But when I find them, that'll be about it. You see, at the risk of losing my 'Real Reefers Membership Card', I was really kind of liking just sitting around and watching the tank instead of constantly fiddling with it. Climbing up and down that step stool doesn't get any easier either. But perhaps the lessons I learned from having those First Graders over a few months back, or going to visit Atlantis last month are really staying with me: Why have this thing if you can't sit back and enjoy it, at least every once in a while?

So do that this week sometime, okay? Designate a day where you're just going to relax and enjoy your tank; no fixing this and seeing if that piece wouldn't look better over there...just enjoy it and have fun. It could actually get addictive.
Okay, to the corals. Remember those two frags I got from Joe at Atlantis late last month? Well, I promised you the pictures so here they are Acro 61 and Acro 62 .
