State of the Tank: (cont.) |
|
were constantly bulldozing this piece and I always feared the worst for it. Now, I hope it is permanently out of harms way and one less thing to worry about.
The rest of the work this month just involved snipping a branch here and there to avoid any warfare while I was gone. But I DO have a few new things to show you. One is this . It's called a 'Superman Montipora' and it's a really popular color morph of the M. danae species.
Right now it is also resting in the auxiliary tank, when, upon my return, we intend to place it down low on the same rock we mounted Acro 53. The other 'newbie' is here : An LPS for a change. And, in this case, it was a literal change as it is taking the space of another LPS, the third Frogspawn I had to clear out.
The reason for the parenthesis around the word newbie is because although this piece is new to the reeftank, I've had it in the auxiliary tank for months, just waiting for some room like this to open up. I acquired it from ReeferMadness as a Favia vietnamensis but lately I've seen similar pieces under the name F. helianthoides...I imagine by those who tend to hold a grudge.
And that's all there is to report coral-wise. Both the equipment and the fish have been no problem. The guy who promised to deliver some of the Olive |

Anthias I've been looking for, of course, did not. And even worse, I was advised by my attorney NOT to divulge his name and home phone number for the purpose of you guys torturing him for wasting my time. Seems like just another law designed to protect the perp as opposed to the victim. (Sigh)
But, speaking of things that reek, we finally did open up the Korallin Biodenitrator to clean it of grunge and add more aragonite. Not too bad a job, though AFTER the fact, we ran up on a thread advising us to leave the cleaning alone, just augment the gravel. Anyway, we got the news too late so we simply returned the drip rate back to the initial settings and when the unit 'cycles in ' again, we'll start from scratch. Hopefully the nitrates will continue to remain undetectable until the unit can catch up.
So before I'm done this month (!), I'd like to update you on how I'm coming with the website rewrite: I'm more than halfway done. This is significant because the half that I've completed is the difficult half; the one with the most changes. Because it is now summer, my work rate will probably slow down a bit. I will shoot for a final completion date (without pictures) by the beginning of fall. Then my webguy and I will go over the best way of putting it up with a minimum of complications. Contrary to popular opinion, this will NOT take so long that by the time I'm done, the information will be obsolete again.
