Tank update: Refugium (cont.)

This turned into several weeks while, despite my best efforts at feeding them everything at my disposal, one-by-one they died. Next, as a by-product of feeding them everything at my disposal and also, I assume, the tanks relatively low amount of water movement, I developed another ugly episode of cyano. No sooner was THAT under control (meaning it now took TWO days before having to siphon a pound of the red stuff off of my sandbed) than the decision was made to import one of these Copperband Butterflys for Aiptasia control in to main tank. More about this later. But suffice it to say that as of this writing, my poor refugium is only refuge to this butterfly and several Zoanthid frags I'm preparing to ship out (more about that later too). So yes, you could say I let things get a little out of hand in this department but I'm working on it. By the next update, things should be back to normal…unless some Ventralis come in that really are eating... Strike that.

Acropora Go!
Acro #4 is now solid purple. Both Acros #6 and #14 are gone because of sloughing of the skin. The sloughing of #6 was particularly disheartening as this coral literally 'sat there', not growing but not bothering anything for a long long time. Then it just suddenly started to go. Acro #21 also suffered a little bleaching event and had to be fragged back. Conversely, almost all the other Acros had unprecedented growth spurts, especially Numbers 5, 8, 10, 11, 16, and 18. Number 16, in fact, had to be severely fragged back as again it reached the tanks waterline. The most recent pics of these corals are now included in the Growth Shot series under the Misc. category Go!. There were no new additions. I also found it interesting that no one (not one single person) offered an ID on any of the specimens.
Fungia Go!
Yep! Got a new one. Check it out.
You can't miss it.
Heliopora Go!
No changes.
Hydnophora Go!
Growing very rapidly now. Will have to be fragged back soon.
