Acro #11 This was another casualty of the CS/IO episode. All that remains of this piece are these two frags, shown here with one of the ‘frags’ of Acro #9. The lesson here is there is no such thing as a frag too small. Before throwing out an entire colony, try to save whatever seems viable. Sometimes it works.
Acro #12 This piece had to be fragged in half due to a bleaching event that began at its base then slowly moved upwards. Not certain it was due to the CS/IO mix. It was almost as if a ‘shroom or Aiptasia attacked it from underneath but this was not the case. Anyway, the remaining piece is doing all right. A pretty fast grower too.
Acro #13 As I concluded that this piece was the same species as Acro #19, I sold it to my LFS in order to open up a little real estate.
Acro #14 This one bleached out last year. See Spring ’03 Update. (link)
Acro #15 This one’s doing just fine, thank you. Still unfragged and unaffected by the Episode EXCEPT for the fact that we actually had to temporarily remove it to get to a coral beneath it that WAS affected. Here is a shot of this piece out of the water! I would guess it currently weighs over ten pounds without the LR base. It comes as no surprise that it is beginning to get unwieldy so, if I can figure out how, I may have to frag it someday.

Acro #16 Finally fragged this one waaay back last Feb. Thankfully, it was not affected by the Episode. Despite its brown color, frags of this specimen proved popular at the LFS and went quickly. Apparently, they made about 30 good-sized pieces (I think the term frag doesn’t really apply here) from this colony and most are still doing well. I am eagerly awaiting news from the first person who manages to entice a little color out of it though.
Acro #17 If this piece were human, it would have a ‘nice personality’. Neither fragged last Feb. or affected by the CS/IO episode (except perhaps genetically), this coral has done two things since the last update. It has turned a very ugly pinkish-tan and it has developed a really strange growth pattern. As you can see, it doesn’t appear to be tabling anymore and there is this strange ‘hairy’ little bump growing from its…., well you see it. I’d really like to get the piece up a little higher so perhaps it might revert to its old bright pink color. Unfortunately, I am completely out of room (“Don’t you hate it when someone with a 500 gallon tank constantly whines about being out of room? I know I do.”). Its growth pattern certainly makes it one of the more interesting corals in the tank though.
Acro #18 Hey, speaking of nice personalities, how about this guy! I think it ‘cleaned up’ rather nicely after it was pried off
of the back of the tank, fragged a little and given room to shine.
